  1. Certified checks at all three NFPA 211 levels, so you know exactly where your chimney stands. Level 1 is free.

  2. Soot, blockages and creosote, the sticky buildup behind most chimney fires, swept out before they become a problem.

  3. A cracked liner can leak heat and gases into your walls. A new one sends them up and out.

  4. Brick, mortar and crowns: the parts Texas sun, storms and freezes wear down.

  5. Keeps out rain, leaves, birds and critters. We repair old caps and install new ones.

  6. Lint builds up where you can’t see it, and it’s a common cause of house fires.

Our grandfather built chimneys, and so did our father. We grew up watching them go up course by course, so we know how every part is supposed to work, and what it looks like when something’s off.

It's also why we'll give it to you straight. If your chimney is clean and sound, we'll tell you so, and you won't pay for a sweep you don't need.

How often should I have my chimney cleaned?

The National Fire Protection Association recommends an inspection every year. Your chimney vents hot, toxic gases and carbon monoxide out of your home, and temperatures inside can top 2,000°F. A yearly check makes sure it's doing that job safely.

What causes most chimney fires?

Creosote. It's a sticky, highly flammable byproduct of burning wood that builds up inside the flue. Burning unseasoned wood, restricting airflow, and cool flue temperatures all speed it up. Regular sweeping removes it before it becomes a hazard.

What's the purpose of a chimney cap?

A cap protects your chimney and saves money over time. It keeps rain and moisture out of masonry and steel chimneys so they don't erode, and keeps out debris, birds, animals and insects.

What's the difference between Level 1, 2 and 3 inspections?

Level 1 (free) is a visual check of all readily accessible parts, inside and out. Level 2 adds attics, crawl spaces, basements and a video camera scan of the flue. Level 3 removes parts of the chimney or nearby walls to reach concealed areas when a serious hidden problem is suspected. See all three in detail.

A certified sweep should be able to explain all three clearly. If someone scratches their head, call Clean as a Whistle.
